Gain new skills in your existing workplace

Learn from senior staff

Senior staff members have had to work to get where they are, and are usually in that hierarchical position for a reason. With this in mind, if you ask for a moment of their time and are clear about what you wish to learn from them, they are likely to be more than happy to help you. They may have had the same career goals as you and so have first-hand experience in developing to where you aim to be.

If this meeting is considered beneficial, see if this can be developed into a regular, formal learning arrangement so that they could become your mentor.

Start or join a discussion

Start conversations around the office, you may find a colleague who is an expert in your desired sector of IT, so use their knowledge to your advantage! You may not be the only one interested in expanding their skills set to develop their career.

Focus on the lawfully prosperous

If you do wish to progress you career, it is just as important to evaluate where you do not want to be as much as it is to visualise where you want to be. For instance, with the world of IT, comes the huge market of cyber security, used to fight cybercrime.

There have been reports on the 19 year old SIM swapper who stole enough cryptocurrency to buy a McLaren that discuss how cybercrime is a superficial route to take and can always end abruptly, whereas a full time career in IT, where you can utilise these skills, is a stable, lawful and prosperous route to take.

So, take it from the experts; a full time career is tons more beneficial and rewarding than a brief, illegal period in cybercrime.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_custom_heading text=”Related Pages” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_btn title=”CV Writing Tips” shape=”square” color=”primary” align=”center” button_block=”true” link=”|||”][vc_btn title=”Submit Your CV” shape=”square” color=”primary” align=”center” button_block=”true” link=”|||”][vc_btn title=”Salary Review” shape=”square” color=”primary” align=”center” button_block=”true” link=”|||”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_separator][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1534863535509{background-color: #d9edf7 !important;background-position: center !important;background-repeat: no-repeat !important;background-size: cover !important;}”]
